Surfing with Ricky (Sunrise Surf Instructor) was one of the highlights of my trip to CR. I learned alot and thanks to him I caught every wave. Would highly recommend Sunrise. Esteban was extremely helpful and responsive when I reached out to him to schedule the session.

Very good surf school. Had an hour there with Victor. Overall, it wasn't my first surfing lesson & my "instructor de surfiar" was a very casual & good-humored guy who picked up my level perfectly.

What an amazing experience! Now my boys and I can call ourselves "Surfers". We took lessons for an adult and two kids. The staff was very accommodating, attentive, patient, and informed. Alonso aka Aquaman, Salas, and the third gentleman (missed his name) helped us take our first surfing lessons and guess what we are now confident to do this again. Highly recommend! Specially Alonso aka Aquaman and Salas!!!
We stayed near Jaco for a month and surfed almost every day. We surfed with the whole crew during our month - Esteban, Alonso, Matias and Victor. All of them were wonderful, encouraging and by the end of our time, we had made a ton of progress with their help and expertise. We’re officially hooked and will be back in 2024 for more surfing in Jaco. If you’re looking to learn how to surf or progress your surfing, this is the spot. Aside from one week that had a bigger swell, the waves were great each and every day. Perfect for learning or you can paddle out further and get a bit bigger waves.
Our entire family absolutely enjoyed our first time surfing lessons with them. The instructors are very patient with my kids. Highly recommended!

I had an absolutely AWESOME experience at Sunrise Surf School! The instructors are skilled surfers but also patient and encouraging. The equipment was well maintained and safety was a top priority.
What an amazing time! Victor and Esteban were awesome with me (41) and my son (8) getting on surfboards for the first time. The lesson on sand was informative but not overwhelming, and they were super helpful and patient with us in the water. My son is not a strong swimmer and was a little freaked out, but felt really safe with Victor and super proud he got up a whole bunch of times. I was with Esteban and he was encouraging while giving me constructive feedback to get better. I’d 100% recommend and will be going back to see them again.
Every instructor was so friendly and helpful. We had a large group of beginners and felt well supported the whole time. What a blast! Pura vida!
I had a very good time surfing with sunrise surf school. Esteban and the instructor s there were very qualify and give you a lot of advise to be to be able to surf by your self. The lesson are not too expensive and adapte to your level from beginner to advance.
They also have many different board to rent at a good price so you can experiance different wave and different style.
My surf instructor, Matias, have a very good energy and a good vide. He really helped me acheive the goals and give me the tools and advise to improve my posture on the board, how to improve the way that I paddle on the board so I can catch more wave by my self.

Hands down the best surf school and rental shop around. Esteban and his instructors are super friendly, patient, thorough and professional. They're all really good surfers, so they have the knowledge and experience to teach at all levels and make even beginners feel really comfortable. Always great advice and a great vibe....pura vida!🤙🏼
Esteban and his team, are the best in the Costa Rica. Pura Vida. One Month with them, and I went from no experience to being able to stand and surf by myself. Was one of the most beautiful experiences i shared with my wife, kids and friends.
I had a great experience learning to surf with Esteban at Sunrise. He was patient with me but also didn't mess around and gave me consistent feedback on what I needed to work on. The whole experience was awesome; I had never surfed in my life and while I still have a lot to learn, surfing with Esteban taught me so much and I had a great time doing it.
Esteban and his team at Sunrise helped us all get to a new level. Amazing vibe whilst professionally coaching was the perfect mix for an unforgettable experience. I recommend Sunrise to anyone visiting Jaco for any level.

When I came to Jacó for one month, Esteban rented me a board for the entire month for a great price. I was able to take out a few different boards to try until I became comfortable with one overtime. I just came back to Jacó recently & Esteban sold me a used board for a GREAT price and great quality. The instructors at Sunrise Surf School are always friendly and respectful. They are located in a perfect spot and a bonus to have a shower and beer at the restaurant after surfing. Thanks for everything 🤙🤙
